This 1970 VW Beetle Cabriolet painting is inspired by the car I lovingly restored with my father during high school. My parents purchased a broken down light yellow convertible Volkswagen bug, and had it towed to our house. My dad and I worked on this car for over a year, reconditioning the engine, waxing the paint, polishing the chrome… I learned how to drive a manual transmission in that car, and since the tachometer was broken, I had to learn about when to shift by listening to the sound of the engine. I had uncountable hours of fun driving that VW around town with the top down, and it initiated me into the world of VW enthusiasts.

Here I am in the summer of 1999, delivering a newly purchased tree in our 1970 VW Beetle. There are many uses for a convertible!
This painting is a simple rendition of the classic 1970 VW convertible bug, and as it is a made-to-order piece of art (not a computer print-out), and it can be customized by selecting one of my many color schemes. Take a look at my listing on Etsy!
I am planning a series of classic VW watercolor paintings, so stay tuned for more!
