This is the fourth in my classic car series (which currently has only VWs): a 1959 Doka, dove blue paint job. I think I’ve only seen one of these in person… it was Easter weekend in the mid 1990s, and my family was visiting me at university. We went into West Virginia to go caving, then browsed some antique shops nearby. I suppose that was the consolation prize for my mom! My dad was very excited to spot it, and declared that one day he would love to find one to restore.
This painting is a simple rendition of the classic and rare 1959 VW Double Cab pickup, also known as the Doka, Doppelkabine, Kombi Twin Cab, and Type 2 T1. It’s an unusual looking classic VW, with the front end of the popular Type 2 bus, and the back end of a pickup (with a crew cab to boot). The paint color I chose for the one pictured was inspired by the original factory color “Dove Blue” (Taubenblau).
This is a made-to-order piece of art (not a computer print-out), and it can be customized by selecting a color scheme of your choice. In addition, I can add words to the painting if you would like to further personalize the artwork. Check out my Volkswagen Doka listing here!
